Sitting here reading the latest theories, I could see a D-FA 35 f1.8. A D-FA 85 f1.x seems even more slam dunk for portrait work. But a D-FA 45 f1.8, when the 43 Ltd is out there today? Seems like a weird place to target development and marketing energy.
How about a D-FA 20 f2.8 followed by a plastic 28 f2.8?

awscreo, not to rain on your parade, but I think it's smart to assume Sigma is not coming back to the k-mount. If you really want that lens, you should buy a body that supports it, or find an alternative; Pentax FA 50 1.4 or DA* 55 1.4 come to mind as alternatives and there may be others. In any case, until Sigma actually comes out with new product you can buy in k-mount, I would consider them dead regarding Pentax.

An APS-C body that has a focus peaking HUD-like overlay, veiwable through the optical viewfinder, would get me interested. I'm not sure how possible that would be within the space and cost constraints though.

A Pentax take on the old full-frame Sigma 17-35 2.8-4.0 would overlap really nicely with the 28-105. A 16-35 2.8-40 would be even better, and as an APS-C person I think that'd be an awesome walk-about lens.
As for a FF 55-300 retractable, I wonder how much the lens would have grown to move up from APS-C. it's an interesting idea at least.

Someone with better image manipulation skill than I have should work up a gold & brown version of the K-1 ala the special LX and get that rumor started.

Hmm, ok, points taken. A nice, modern, fast 50 with solid image quality would be pretty important now that there's a hot new FF camera to put it on. Maybe the most bang for the buck would be to revise the 55 first? But then again the DFA 50 2.8 is also in that space...

Would you really focus limited resources on a new 50 1.4 when the FA 50 1.4 already exists with the DA* 55 1.4 just a touch longer and also quite high quality? Remember that the widest Pentax prime you can purchase today is the FA 31 Ltd...

Agreed, the 15-30 actually says "Made in Japan" on it. It also weighs *a lot* which is a scientific measurement I took when I held one a month ago. Between the cost, the size, and the weight, the 15-30 is going to be a hard pill to swallow.
Bring on the Pentax wide full frame primes already.
