A lucky escape for this Imperial White Butterfly, as I extricated it from the web after taking this shot. Tough luck for the spider though. KP + DA 55-300 PLM |

Haven't been to this thread for a while. Catching up on many awesome images.
Hover fly on Austral Grass-tree (Xanthorrhoea australis). K-S2 + DFA 100 Macro WR.
The trickiest part of these shots was holding a flash and diffuser in my left hand while trying to focus and shoot using just my right. I've now got a cheap bracket and arm to hold the flash, which should make things easier.

So many fine images in this thread.

Thanks very much for your comments guys.
I generally use the Museum of Victoria site - Australia, Victoria, Butterfly - Australian, Victorian Butterflies, Database and Images. - and a field guide to Wilson's Prom. I'm going to order the Braby guide. That Coffs Harbour site is very good, but as you say Walt it does focus on ones they have. (Coffs Harbour is in a sub-tropical region of northern NSW, and there are many species tropical and sub-tropical species that prefer to stay in warmer climes.)
Nymphalidae does seem the right family. Looking again through the MOV site I am inclined to think this one is a male Common Brown Butterfly - I ruled it out before because I had looked at images of the female, which is quite different. The image here looks very similar: Butterflies of Australia - Heteronympha merope ---------- Post added 2018-05-19 at 08:46 ----------
I came to the same (tentative) conclusion at the same time as you posted. You've helped firm up the ID!
Wonderful images @swanlefitte. Been admiring all your posts.

I think this damselfly is an Eastern Dart (Austroagrion watsoni), but I'm only going by online guides. K-S2 + DA 55-300 PLM. |

Not sure of the ID on this dragonfly. I think (from looking at some online guides) it's a Unicorn Darner (Austroaeschna unicornis), but I stand to be corrected. K-S2 + DA 18-135. |
