Camera arrived and looks pretty good overall (shutter count around 6,500). Body is pretty clean apart from the broken battery door, multiple scratches on base-plate and the rubber eye-cup is missing. The lens also seems to be in reasonable condition, with only a slight scuff mark on front element (lens cap missing). The zoom ring feels a little stiffer at one point in the zoom range, and the focus ring feels a bit uneven too. I'm not familiar with 18-135 lens to know if this is normal? Auto-focus seems to work fine and image quality looks to be good. Just need a replacement battery door and to try and match the paint on the base-plate.

It's a possibility. Unfortunately Ricoh Pentax service is not that great here, and they were only supplying parts to their single authorized repair facility. I will take a closer look once the camera arrives and see if there is any other damage.

Good to know, I think it will be easier to locate a dead K-7 or K-5 as a donor. I don't have a lot invested in the K-3, especially if the included 18-135 lens turns out to be in reasonable shape.

Just purchased a used K-3 with a broken battery door. Camera is in transit but I wanted to find out if the battery door was the same as used on the earlier K-7 or K-5 models (pictures look very similar)? Apart from the broken door and some scratches on the bottom cover, the rest of the body appears to be in reasonable shape, so I was hoping to replace the battery door and get a usable camera.
