Last night I decided to try star trails.....I chose the wrong star as the North Star, so it's like a weird meteor shower :D

Also, I did one 30 sec exposure every 1 min, so unfortunately the stars are not solid trails but dotted trails.....I think it's pretty decent for a first time, what do you guys think?

Taken with the Rokinon 8mm f3.5

As far as the 10 MP sensor, the largest print I've done (just to try out the quality) is an 8x10, and I'm very happy with the printed image :)

It's not great in low-light, so thats the only thing that holds me back...I shoot only with MF lenses so I have no idea how the AF is. Also, I pretty much only use ISO up to 400 :)

but yeah...low light performance is the reason why I upgraded to a K3 :)

Hey there,

Right now my main body is a K10D, and it was my first ever DSLR which I bought in 2014. I have got to say, I was in the same boat as you, K10D or K20D....which is better? What do I choose?

I watched tons of YouTube review videos, read forums, looked at pictures. I managed to get a very nice copy from a fellow forum member, the camera being under 2000 actuations with a MagicLantern guide and extra battery for $100, which was a steal at that time.

Anyway, I'm very happy with the sensor, the colors are beautiful and I'm very happy with it. Low-light performance is bad, unless a flash is used for snapshots. Long exposures look amazing. I would say go for the K10D because of the sensor, as the K20D has a different one and color rendition is a bit different. Here are a few pictures taken with the K10D, one in natural light, one with the built-in flash, and one long exposure. Also, note that I only use legacy glass (Takumar lenses) so I have no idea about the autofocus and how it works/compares to the K20D.

Long Exposure:

I know the sensor is dirty, just ignore that :D

With built-in flash:

There were many other pictures, but like I mentioned, a virus wiped all my DNG and JPEG files...my stupidity for not making back-ups :( and composition was a little hard as he didnt want his picture to be taken and kept running around

Since you enjoyed that one, here's another photo from that day at the beach, same lens, same camera. :)

Thanks :) I really wish I had the DNG....it would look really nice as a B&W or as a silhouette by increasing shadows

Here's a shot from last summer, made with a Takumar 55 1.8 lens, just an amazing piece of glass overall. Unfortunately, all the RAW files, and almost all of the PP images from that summer are gone....a ransomware virus took all of them away from me. Anyway...This is a shot which I'm very proud of, as it shows my little brother (8 years old at the time) standing on the beach, gazing into the horizon as the sun is setting in the background. The shot was not staged, and that's why it's so special to me. :)

Hey guys, so I've been enjoying my K10D, using legacy lenses, and recently, I've been asked to be a nightclub photographer by one of my friends who is a DJ....now, I've been using the built-in flash with a Takumar 17 f4, however, I would like to know what external flashes you guys would recommend for that type of photography, with dodgy club lighting. Here's a photo that I took a few days ago, and even though it looks good, the flash is way too intrusive IMO.

Thank you all in advance :)

hey all, Christmas is almost here and I've been thinking about what i should get for myself. I have the k10D and I was wondering if you guys can recommend me some flashes, since the built-in one is great for a short distance but nothing more than 12 feet. I'd prefer if its under $100. Any suggestions? :) also, I only use MF lenses so yeah :) thanks

So I got a K10D, as my first DSLR (I've used various point-and-shoot cameras and film SLRs), and seeing how this is about 7-8 years after it's original release, and everyone seems really happy with the results and the prices are pretty low compared, as well as the fact that its not a Canon/Nikon, I thought that it's a good DSLR to get started with. I have a few screwmount lenses, here's the list:

Super-Takumar 50mm / f 1.4 (8 element)
SMC Takumar 55mm / f 1.8
SMC Macro-Takumar 50mm / f 4
Takumar 200mm / f 3.5
Helios 44-2 58mm / f 2
Jupiter-8M 50mm / f 2

do you have any advice and tips on how to get started with the camera, any hidden settings, etc? Also I saw some threads about a split screen modification, so should I get it since I'll be using only manual lenses?
