read that HowTo in the dropbox folder.
You have to choose one of the xxx.mod folder and rename it to develop.mod.
On KS2 it'a a bit different - each .mod opens another debug menu.

I did that with my 50-135 because it had backfocus.
I've got 4 different lensroms for the 50-135 and tested all of them - and luckily there was one that fitted perfect for my lens and body.
Otherwise the camera do a backup automatically when uploading a rom (my camera did it).

Lensroms are mostly the same (for one type of lens). There're only differences if there was focus adjustment directly by pentax.
So you can try load other lensrom to your lens (if it's the same lens).
Do you have newest firmeware on your K-S2?
The storage-card door was open and you pushed the menu button while turning the camera on?

that is strange - i've never got that problems.
If the screen stays black, your camera didn't read those two files.
Did you just copy those files to your storage card? How much Bytes does your 00077430.505 have?
Should be 17 Bytes...

I found the issue - both files on your sd card end with *.txt, did you change that?
The name of these files should be "00077430.505" and "DEVELOP.MOD" without .txt
I don't know why it is now a .txt file on your sd card - maybe your mac convert to this?
Try if you can rename it without .txt

if you have these two files in the root of your sd card and the card is in the camera..after turning on the camera a "development menu" should be shown in the screen.
Do you have the right files?

You don't need PK Tether to get into debug mode (and it will not work).
Just have a look in my link - did writing/reading lensrom with K5 and K5IIs without any problems - so you don't need to buy an old Pentax Camera!

you can use your K3 to enter debug menu and modify lensrom.
Just have a look at my signature "Lensrom Database" ;)

you should update your firmware to the newest release, because the camera will work better with the newest update.
And yes, MODSET.474 is correct, but you have to written in that file: [OPEN_DEBUG_MENU]
Have a look here: First disassembly results
It is not necessary, that the sd card is blank!

a guy "extract" a lensrom and has described what is responsible for what.

i noticed that the lensrom is every time a bit diffrent if i store it. And if i want to load it to the lens it gives me an error...that's why i think i can't
read/load sigma lenses with powerzoom contacts on the old k100d
