GREAT photo of a male eastern towhee. They are rather elusive birds which are much more often heard than seen. " Drink your tea" and "Chewink!!" are their signature calls.

Other than some magenta-purple CA, the S-M-C Takumar 85-210/4.5 is an impressive performer. The achilles heel being the twelve foot minimum focusing distance.

Yes, the nuthatch was scolding a house finch on a nearby branch. The smallest bird which visits my yard is also the most fearless.

The Super/SMC Takumar 35/3.5 is a superb lens on digital. Lovely rendition. I used mine for quite a number of fall foliage landscapes this year and was very impressed by the color saturation and tonal range.

The old 1958 Takumar truly amazes me every time I take it off my AP in the display case and play with it on a DSLR

I am not sure what this tiny gold and garnet piece was originally but the Macro Takumar 50mm f4 and y K-r recorded it at life size, 1:1
The object is only .20 of an inch wide!

Pentax really built a winner back in 1957 when my just acquired Takumar 58mm f/2.4 was assembled! More of my first day test photos taken with my k5iis.
Some at f/2.4, other at f/5.6 and the sunset afterglow is f/8.
I have the 55/2.2 and 55/2 Takumars and the 58/1.8, 55/2.2 and 55/2 Auto Takumars- this Takumar 58/2.4 blows the all away wide open!

Yes, steam cars are really awesome. I am a lifelong railroad enthusiast and have ridden Shay, Climax and rod engine powered trains in Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia many times.
I have far too many 50-58mm lenses on my camera collection and in my lens case to give them much of a workout. The quick test of the early 58/2.4 says it will be getting used instead of being parked on display with one of my AP bodies.

utak, your K is within under 200 serial numbers of my copy. I wish mine looked that good! Mine works but Eric Hendrickson said he wouldn’t go over it because someone else had “generously” lubed it. Luckily, Eric said he was able to set the shutter except 1/1000 which is a bit slow. I bought a second K off eBay and sent it to Eric too. Unrepairable due to shutter damage. I lost $125 selling that one as a placeholder.
