This is just a sample image and may not be very explicative, I explain not having other real images in Pef, I looked for an area where there were fine details and poor contrast "as you see the green is dominant" to try to understand how the accelerator operates.

My opinion is that in continuous tone zones it cannot separate fine or small finely details. Vice versa it does better than the K1 and the images appear apparently more sharp,
with high ISO. Of course it would take multiple files in Pef possibly and evaluate the high ISO, to understand how it will behold.

Images downloaded in DNG unfortunately, but the difference is real. 100% cropping, ISO 12800.

The Luminance noise is similar to the film grain and is due to the variation of luminous intensity recorded by the individual photosites even if they are affected by the same amount of light. Chrominance noise, on the other hand, is caused by incorrect interpolation of the colour by one pixel (or a zone).

That said, as far as you can see, with artificial light and therefore well controlled, in the K1 in my opinion the luminance appears very slight at ISO 1600, in the K1 Mrk II appears at 6400, so a gain of 2 stops.

For Chroma noise we are very close to the values mentioned above, but the 12800 threshold is the maximum for K1 Mrk II and K1 the maximum threshold for Chroma is around 6400,
of course with small adjustments in post production.

You can go on 1 stop but you lose details and so the maximum values tolerated by me are around 12800. Strangely enough, however, the details on the label, black on white although influenced by noise,
appear more clearly readable in the K1.

Much depends on the software used and I think that you will still have to do several tests to understand exactly how and what advantages there are, if there are in the Pentax MrkII.

800 is better than 100 iso, or very close? Has less chrominance noise.

Mine is or wants to be a simple logical deduction, even by virtue of the first samples provided and not a statement without comparable data,
I think that even after all comparisons and tests carried out, there will always be a little disbelief about the data provided between one test and another, it is scepticism that reigns.
On the other hand, the whole discussion arises from a simple question of hair, it's really funny with Pentax who slowly seems to be returning to his past always as a great innovator
and never banal or presumptuous.

I wish long life to Pentax/Ricoh and all Pentaxians.

I re-read a passage from Mr Takashi's statement, and it seems to me that the management of the image is explained very clearly, then everyone can give it weight.
and different meaning, the crux of the matter is:

I imagine two points that can create the problem (if taken for real), I can It is also wrong, but it is only a hypothesis, not a thesis, let alone a demonstration.

When Mr. Takashi Arai ''Ricoh'' says in the interview:

1. The Accelerator Unit first processes the output signal from the sensor, then transmits it to the PRIME IV.

I. The first statement is true, only if 'the accelerator unit processes the signal correctly' then the second statement may not be true 100%.

2. Because the signal for PRIME IV is already [less noisy than the original K-1]. Better signals in PRIME IV in K-1 II means that it can be optimized more specifically only to reduce noise.

II. The second statement is true, so the first condition is false.
And so beyond a certain threshold (yet to be verified) the noise is not reduced in the correct way or as you would expect.

Compared to K1 (which has a traditional way of processing with only the Prime IV).

Hoping that DxO Mark will do an accurate review as soon as possible.

Pentax vs Canon 5DS

Instead of hair, it seems interesting to me, this mini test although not a true one in all its aspects, but it is a real simulation of what you can really get with the Pentax K1 MrkII at night.
