Yes I bought mine from China, but it looks exactly the same as the one from DX, even the packing (box) looks the same. I'm guessing the one from DX is also made in China? Mine looks almost exactly the same as the original one, including all the screws and holes, they look like from the same molds. But the materials used for both grips are different.
Again, I'm not saying it's cheaply made, but it's definitely not as well made as the original one which I compared with.

I got the 3rd party grip a couple of days ago. Comparing w/ the original one, I'd say the difference isn't just the weather-sealing. Yes, the 3rd party one works and looks similar as the original one, including the battery inserts. But the original one is definitely better built. The leather cover on the 3rd party one doesn't look as high quality as the original one, and the edge isn't totally aligned w/ the grip surface, even has some edge peeling on mine. I'm not saying it looks cheap, but it's definitely not as well made as the original one.
But for the price I paid, I'm not complaining :)

I bought the type 2 grip from China for around $55usd, should be here in a day or two. Let's see how it compare w/ the original ones when I have it. I don't really use the grip much, but sometimes when I'm using a big lens like FA*80-200, the grip would help balancing the whole setup.
