Thank you again for your response. I think I'm going to keep an eye out for any price changes on the DA35mm f2.4 after your advice.

Thank you for your suggestion! I have been price watching the DA 35mm 2.4-- its just took an all time low 89.99 but now back to 120 quid. I agree this would have been better but was concerned 1) 2.4 only 2) lack of flexibility of zoom, thought it might be too similar to 50mm.
I have the kit lens for rainy days I suppose. Ideally wanted the 18-135 but out of my budget.

Hi there
Got a K-30 for my newborn 2 weeks ago. Got the DA 50mm 1.8, happy with it but then invested in Kit lens for wider angle group shots.
Was looking to get more reach, have not really been impressed with kit lens. Is this DA WR 50-200 worth it? Even if the IQ isn't top notch, I would only use it outdoors-- cannot justify or afford expensive glass just now.
