Not even I would blame them. Meanwhile we are paying for selling Pentax. we are just recellers and if there is absolutely no profit i can`t blame them. sometimes we even sale under the buying price sooo ... ... ... we`ve done our best.

i heven`t heard of such a thing. about china i think there may be no merchendising company for small shops at all.
normaly every big company has their own merchendising department - there are merchendisers who look that their product are stored propperly onse a week/month/quartal/year. sometimes companies pay for a special place where their product must be stored - eyeheight/ middle of the rack etc.

on other hand distributors can offer you a better deal, depending on order quantity/ marketing importance/ advertising etc selling you products under the normal prices(i mean even under real distribution prices).

and at last the advertising, all kinds of sales, special offers, cash backs, booklets, posters etc. - the distributors are making the prices, not the recellers.

you won`t belive but there are quite many customers who really want professional opinion and there are expected more and more in the future. take great britain - there are no camera shops there and the first thing they do, when they are on vocation - search for a professional camera shop and get third opinion. they are although willing to pay that 10 or 20% above internet price for being adviced. there are many more who just appreciate being a customer, get answers as simple as possible, get their problems solved if there are any, simply get a personal experience. and belive me, we advice not just simple noobs and beginners. and camera is an investment - your invesing in possibilities. you are paying for an opportunity of making pictures, building up your gear and more - it is up to you for which purpose you use it. Glass wine although often gives possibilities ;) (good night investment) so invest propperly)

the beginning of the end...) for few month i wrote that we`ve got any/very few pentax lenses in our shops in innsbruck, austria sooo... ... ... today i was told that we are done with pentax, there will be final sale in few weeks, and then pentax will be sold only for order - which means nothing on stock, and ordering time from few days till few weeks - in short, no selling possibility at all. And we were one of the last who got pentax.) i hope the distributor in europe saved enought money for themselves with their shitty merchendising company because i won`t be able to sell pentax cameras any more.

You can`t imagine how rare we are... I`m camera salesman in Innsbruck, Austria. Guess what, we`ve got nothing on stock. Sure we have some new bodies with kit optics, and some original pentax gadgets, but no lenses... I mean it! One or two WR Zoom lenses, but thats all.
And all because of one m**********r(sorry for my french) who manages the whole company in Europe. That guy does ZERO advertisement, and the service is as customerunfriendly, as it could be. Belive me, I tried already to order a split focus screen for my K-x... no chance.
I really like pentax, and it really has potential. there is not a single Camera that can match the quality especial in the hobby/semi professional price class. But if the situation doesnt change in the future, pentax will slowly die out in Europe.
