Thanks for all of your help so far. Follow up question... would y'all think that I would be better off purchasing the Pentax 35mm f2.4 at about $150, or renting a wide angle Pentax lens for $145? In other words, do you think that the 35 2.4 would be good enough for my trip and useful to keep for the long term or should I go for the better lens for the short term just for the trip?

Thanks for the idea, I hadn't really thought of that. If I went that route, do you have a recommendation for an M42 that would be best for my use?

Yeah I know that I'm not going to get the best quality for that money. I hadn't considered a rental yet though, I'll look into that.
