It is a 30 second exposure. I tried less to minimalize the blurr from the movement of the northern lights but then it was too dark. In hindsight I should have shot it anyways and bumped the exposure up in post.
This was the most spectacular display I have ever witnessed. It was a surreal experience. Just 5 good pals out on the middle of a massive lake ice fishing into the night. The lights danced like this for at least an hour, first starting with green and then added the pink. Sadly I didn't have a tripod so I had to rest my camera on the rear storage box of the atv I was riding. I did have to crop to remove part of the front windshield and handlebars so I lost a little of the expanse of sky but not much.

My first attempt at northern lights. I have never seen pink before. Sadly I could have used a wider lens but the 18-135 was all I had on my camera that night. I was on a northern Manitoba ice fishing trip and we fished till midnight one night. The fishing was slow but the light show was spectacular. The camera (or my skills) doesn't do it justice.

I doubt it was the same picture. I just happen to notice a few pics of sun dogs on that site too. You should check it out there are a lot of great pics from around our province.

I have seen sun dogs quite often the last few days around Swift Current. Was that you that posted a pic like this on Sask scenery facebook page?

We stayed at the Grand Paladium White Sands. Very nice resort. I was very torn about whether I should take my dslr on this trip or just a cheap point and shoot. I'm so glad I decided to lug the k5ii around! I am awaiting a K3 to show up and really wish I had pulled the trigger before we went but I'm pretty happy with these pics regardless.

Lol. It's my son's 60d and yes it was just there so we could fit in with the rest of the tourists and their canikons. I didn't see one other pentax camera during the whole trip. My K5II did all the heavy lifting.

Disregard my son walking on top of the falls. I couldn't crop him out without ruining the pic. He went up to shoot it from a different angle. K5II3832 by jayman_1975, on Flickr

[IMG][/IMG] ---------- Post added 07-03-14 at 04:13 PM ---------- These were taken at our local Canada day parade. There were a lot of sexy cars this year. Pardon the peoples heads in the way.
