I'll gladly join that group and sit on the front row at the club meetings with you.;) Ricoh/Pentax will continue to make a profit by doing what they have been doing, develop well thought out nicely featured cameras that offer value for the money asked for the product.:)

First of all, My Friend, I read your post when it went up. I'm not taking the bait on your loaded question.:D My answer is I'm prepared to spend what ever I think is a fair price based upon my determination of what features and improvements will benefit me.:) BTW, I couldn't care less about 4K video.

I'm referring to Pentax......I don't give a rip about the over priced Nikon gear. The way I read your quoted statement was that a "flagship" (lousy term) APSC Pentax DSLR would cost more than the "flagship" FF Pentax DSLR since obviously there is no entry or midlevel FF Pentax DSLR . Pentax is the only camera system I'm interested in. All the rest can go fly a kite.

Hey Clackers, How about explaining what the entry or mid-level of the bigger format Pentax DSLR is? And no the 645Z as the bigger format doesn't work. I'm just curious.

I'm just trying to tamp down the Mirrorless talk, you know exactly how it gets when the Evangelists start preaching. Speculation about a FF mirrorless is pure fantasy especially expecting one before 2020 or even later IMO. Lets keep our speculation within the realm of probability.

Now there you go, RE, making another swerve into MILC never never land.;) Please lets not go through another 2 weeks of mirrorless drivel from the mirrorless evangelists. Weren't you just commenting about the camera body swerve a few posts back.

Honestly, the size difference doesn't bother me. I was just suggesting ways to use common parts to reduce development cost and development time. I would expect a much improved SR system as well as a faster frame rate with improved write speeds especially for an APS-C system and a class leading AF and tracking system. There are probably any number of improvements a roomier body could accommodate.

Do a comparison of the K-1II and a D500 very similarly sized so people are shooting with larger APS-C bodies.

You must have missed the edited portion of my reply. Which is basically what you are saying here, only that the body needs to be a K-1 instead of a completely new body. It seems to me that an APS-C camera like that could be brought to market quickly. I just think some would "pan" that type of camera as not enough progress even though it might have state of the art IQ, AF and shooting speed.

What would be the point in that??? A much better plan would be to mount an APS-C sensor in the K-1 body and save a bunch on designing and producing a new exclusive APS-C body.

I agree with your assessments. The K-3/K-3II series were designed by shooters (photographers) the small thing like the ridge on the back right of the body locates the thumb in the perfect placement to operate the buttons on the right rear of the body. As for the play button its easily operated with the left thumb when holding the camera with the lens pointed downward.

We both hold and control our cameras essentially the same way. The way the shutter button and control wheel is located on the K-3/K-3II just feels "natural" to me, not a lot of wasted finger movement even when using BBF.

Well as long as you don't don't rotate the focus ring on the 55-300 PLM it won't affect anything. Depending on the lens I sometimes end up with my fingers on the mechanical focus ring inhibiting autofocus.

My problem with the KP form factor is grip depth, with the K-3/K3II form factor you have a very deep grip and I can wrap my fingers around the grip, thus its more comfortable to support the camera in my right hand and support the lens barrel with my left hand the way I was taught to hold and support the camera. I two hand my K-3 even with smaller lens. I've never held a KP but the fat little grips with shallow depth look as if you don't have enough grip depth and it might make you hold the camera with a "clamping" hold rather than wrapping the fingers around the grip for good camera support.

My assumptions could be wrong.
