To me the pictures look identical at web resolutions. Scratches will make far more difference when shooting into light.

I lived in the middle of the island, Coram for my last half of my time living there. :p
I don't think I'd return to the Island, it's too expensive, people are leaving, and the weather is just miserable compared to Florida. No more humid winters for me.
I will miss the beautiful beaches, Fire Island and especially the Montauk Lighthouse though. :(
Arizona seems beautiful though, and so do the other deserts to the west even though I haven't had an opportunity to go out there yet.
I personally want to take a trip one day to Death Valley in California, seems like it'd be an amazing experience and photo opportunity.

I lived on Long Island most of my life (94-2012 :D), how much different was it in the 80s? It got really really crowded before I left.

60 for a sensor clean is nuts considering even a proper wet clean isn't that difficult to do. You could try using an air compressor from a distance if you have access to one, it's a pretty common tactic for computer components.

The first 2 are definitely in "close enough" territory when it comes to raws since I don't mind minor tweaking when working on my photos. I don't know about jpeg.
Between the last 2 I do notice the color cast in the clouds but I do not see the improvement in the sunlight on the ground, at least not at web resolution. I'd say this is a win for the daylight preset.

I really want a k10d for the CCD sensor, can't really justify spending the prices on ebay for one though when my k-01 is still working like a champ.
