If the firmware was completely hacked you could do stuff like:
Focus peaking in video
SR in video
GPS on k-01
Different color focus peaking
Zebra in video
Higher output video
Clean HDMI

I wonder if there's junk data in the k-50 files that can be removed. Bunch of zeros for example.

Or the third possibility which is it doesn't do certain functions and has to be reverted.

Doing mirror up with the sensor cleaning option on the normal firmware would also brick it then ;)

The hardware is identical pretty much. The only difference is the K-01 doesn't have a mirror and a viewfinder :D
Honestly if I did have money to spare and an extra k-01 I'm pretty sure I'd test it.

I wonder how similar the K-50 is to the K-01, would be nice to get PLM and Astrotracer support.
I'd try it on mine but it's my only camera so :D

Makes me want to learn this stuff and put in the effort myself. Would be nice to enable astrotracing on the k-01 one day.
