Someone had a Pentax-A 24mm f2.8 listed for pretty low, I offered 35 and they surprisingly accepted. Glass looks good in the pics, can't wait to test it out. Anyone have experience with this lens?

What are the insulation properties of solar shingles compared to a regular tile roof? I've always assumed it'd be pretty poor and any benefits from having panels as shingles would be kind of lost.
I'm not one for looks I'd probably just use regular panels.

They will generate something. But not enough to power anything substantial. That and the relative angle of the sun to your latitude is why having solar panels far north is just kind of a waste of money.

I don't understand the complaint. Film cameras operate on analog mediums? Plus the spotmatic is fully mechanical and the metering system is analog just to top it off.
Though I guess if we want to be pedantic cameras really went to an era of hybrid tech with CCD sensors being analog and all.

Still waiting on my Zenit MT-1 Surprise to come from Ukraine, backed up for obvious reasons. It's just a Zenit-19 that has a half frame mask but the one I bought seems to already have an m42 mount which will be nice with my collection :D
Speaking of Takumars though, does anyone know if there's any compatibility issues with the 8 element tak 50 1.4 and the zenit-19?

I've never heard the difference in speakers or headphones after playing them for long periods of time. I think people just get used to the sound, or they expect a difference.
I own about 10-12 pairs of speakers. A few of which I got new...

Anywho picked this up on ebay, should be arriving in march (photo is from the auction).
It's the Zenit MT-1 "Surprise" (which according to my friend in Moscow surprise has a very limited scope in definition, usually meaning something like a "gift" which is funny for a piece of equipment meant for endoscopies).
It's a modified Zenit 19 meant for lab work as mentioned. What makes it pretty unique is the half frame mask and shortened winder for half frame photos. This makes it one of the few SLR options for half frame photography.
Even more curious is the fact that this one seems to have the M42 mount instead of the unique mount for the medical equipment so it should be quite useful. I'll get some more glamor photos of it when it arrives in a month or two.

Haven't received it yet but the example shots from the seller seem to suggest no. Or at least very minimally.
Plus the price was very very good for this particular lens.

Was browsing ebay looking at Takumar stuff (as one does) and I noticed a Super-Tak 135mm f3.5 for 10 dollars shipped. I wonder what's wrong with it but honestly how could I not pull the trigger on it? Even includes the original hood. Assuming it's functional it'll be mainly used on the spotmatic.

Picked up a K-5 IIs from the marketplace here. Amazing condition too!
Wanted a decent backup for the KP and something I wouldn't be too sad if it got destroyed doing something real dumb.

I got a pair of Samson SR850 headphones on a pretty steep discount. Mainly got them for monitoring my voice recordings but the sound quality on them is really great for casual listening!

Just won 2 55mm taks. One is an Auto-tak 55 1.8 and the other is a super tak 55 f2. Can't wait to play with them.

If there's nothing wrong with it, seems like a steal.
If you do buy it I'd recommend looking out for decentering and other mechanical issues.

I used to use the cheap chinese ones but I'm pretty convinced now that those have tolerance issues. Since I got the official pentax one I swear my lenses are sharper, especially at infinity.

Just got in my Nikon 4000 ED scanner. I managed to get it set up in windows 8.1 relatively painlessly and have gotten some test scans. Though it's pretty obvious that the scanner's mirror is absolutely filthy! So I'll have to open this bad boy up and clean it out sometime next week.
I think the dust is so bad it's making the scanner slightly miss focus.
