Then you are good to go I think.
Be aware that with M42 lenses the "easiest" way to use them appears to be to set the camera on Av mode and toggle the aperture from auto to manual on the lens (focus on auto, meter on manual).

The KALT adapter I have is as reliable as the genuine Pentax but it does require a tool. Mine was new old stock from eBay. I would suggest testing the adapter on the MX and getting comfortable with it before you mount to the digital camera.
