I would think a modernized 600g f 70-210 style lens would be your target if weight is the concern. I'm not suggesting modifying an in warranty 60-250 lens btw, I'm suggesting it might be the path Pentax would take optically to give a lens in that range, probably with dc motors, hd coatings, etc. I don't discount the weight concern, but I also have no idea if the lens you want can be a priority for pentax when they have other gaps to fill.

It is a nice lens. I have it, the FA31 ltd, and the SMC da 40. I like the da 40 better than the 35 perhaps due to size. I previously owned the da 35 f2.4 and like the FA 35 slightly better.

Let me put this more plainly. Why would Pentax need to have a DFA 60-250 f4 and a DFA 70-200 f4? The difference in size and weight aren't likely to be huge unless there is a drop in optical performance. So while the 60-250 in present form is not a DFA lens it seems that it could be. Also the useable range without modification appears to be 60-200 by all accounts from k-1 users.

With a minor mod the da* 60-250 f4 is full frame.

The DA* 50-135 is a lens I wouldn't want replaced with a full frame version. The purpose of that lens is to be a 70-200 equivalent. The DA* 300 on the other hand makes sense to be updated as a DFA.

The optical quality and f/stop range are more important to lens size than the sensor size for the same focal length. I would not expect that size and weight in a lens with more than 2x longer optical reach and a zoom range of 10x rather than 6x. Look to the 50-500 for an idea of what to expect from a 10x zoom and compare to say the 150-500 for size and f/stop. Note that these start at f/4.5 not f/3.5...

One thing that always annoys me is the lack of a key.

Yellow appears to be * optics, but green is shared by DA, DFA, FA, and FA limited. I would suggest that maybe a different color or notation for WR/AW would help more than * vs not star. Or calling out the limited line up vs everything else.

Pentax? Are you listening?

Also, given user experience with other lenses working well on full frame, why do they still only show three DA lenses with that ability and correction profiles for ff use.
