I set one camera body up that way and used it for weeks - months really. And I never got behind it. It is hard to teach me this new trick. I've been shooting using the other method since my first PZ-1.

No I'm saying the switch/button you press may be bad (not reliable) and you may have to use the back button method to avoid accidental refocus unless you want to replace it.

I've never been fond of back button AF. But I also haven't had this issue. I think I'd switch in your case. Yes; this seems like a problem with the switch.

Front and back focus have to do with the COMBINATION of lens and body. If your lenses work on another body in pdaf, and on the current body in CDAF, then I'd suspect front or back focusing. The high resolution of the 24mp sensor makes mount distances critical

Others have suggested good ideas, but let me ask this. Do you have any other autofocus lenses? Are any of the other lenses able to focus correctly? When you use the lenses with problems do they hunt focus and eventually give up without achieving it? Or do they chirp and lock in immediately but inaccurately?
