I tried the Sigma 50-150 - while owning the 50-135 Pentax. While some say they are very similar I found the Sigma to be disconcertingly pudgy and awkward by comparison. I didn't like the texture of the surface of the lens barrel and I have never found the colors from the Sigma to be quite what they are on the 50-135. I realize I may be spoiled by the 50-135 and I'm happy I'm so lucky as to have been able to try both. Honestly if I had never used the 50-135 I probably would have been in love with the 50-150. ---------- Post added 04-14-18 at 11:26 PM ----------

DA* 50-135 is one of the best reasons to own a Pentax APSC camera. The lens is phenomenal AND it is light and compact compared to the same effective "reach" on FF. The 50-135 is also sharp sharp sharp right out of the gate at f/2.8. As for speed... I came from manual focus and so I find most complaints about AF slowness to make me raise an eyebrow. The lenses that bother me on focusing are macro lenses or longer focal length lenses with long focus throw. The Internal zoom and internal focus DA* 50-135 is pretty quick in my eyes. The SDM will get very slow as it fails however adding to the perception that this lens is very slow. Converting to screw drive will fix this - adding to the perception it is much faster - however having converted a lot of these lenses and testing my own which has working SDM I have come to the conclusion that the screw drive performance and good working healthy SDM performance are very similar. As SDM starts to fail focusing errors can also creep up that slow down the speed of the system getting lock in addition to slow motor performance.
Bottom line. BUY THIS LENS - RUN DON'T WALK - BUY ONE NOW. You will thank me.
