^ having owned both I don't think there is any considerable difference in AF speed or accuracy. But the pentax is silent and that's a big deal for wildlife. Additionally it has full time manual override on the focus ring. This can be a life saved if you subject is between branches etc. The tokina doesn't, and the focus ring on the tokina spins, which is annoying.

Here is a test I did. ISO 80 for all shots. Different days so slight change in lighting. shutter speed adjusted as needed with mirror lock up on a tripod. These are heavy center crops. They are taken from the same distance. Unfortunately my plaque I used for the shots got scratched between the shots, but I think you still get the idea.
Tokina at f 5.6 (wide open)
Pentax at f 4.0 (wide open)
Tokina stopped down 1 (f/8)
Pentax stopped down 1 (f/5.6) |

I owned the tokina while I could not afford the pentax 300/4. The Tokina gives good results at f8-11. The pentax at f4 is already sharper than the tokina ever is. The tokina can have some purple fringing problems. The pentax you have to try pretty hard to Harlow any purple fringing at all.
Basically the tokina is a nice lens for the price. It's better than the pentax 55-300 at 300. But it's no real competition to the pentax 300/4.
