Recently developed a roll of Acros I shot last October, having not had access to my developing kit for the best part of a year. For film that had been sitting for months on a shelf and chemicals that had been left standing for nearly a year (albeit in a cool place) I think it turned out quite well.

There will be many things that I will miss from Japan when I move back to the UK in August, but the thing I will miss most will be £5/$7 E6 processing.

Superia 800 is definitely still available in Japan and the UK, if that helps. Here's some I had developed today. I have, however, been using mostly S400 since I got here, with Fujicolor 100 and S800 taking up the slack when it's too light or too dark.
Shot in the Pentax MZ-6 with the Tamron 70-300mm f4-5.6 (an underrated lens in my humble opinion)

Fujifilm 写ルンです ('utsurun desu', literally 'It takes photos' in Japanese) disposable cameras are still very popular in Japan, and I've been getting through one a week since I got here. This is from a normal Superia 400 variety, but we also have the 'Hi-Speed' action version (with 1600ISO film, 1/200s shutter and f14 lens) and the 30th anniversary special editions, which come with cute cases and straps. I've even seen reusable disposable camera cases shaped like old Contax rangefinders in the camera stores - I know going on about Japanese 'camera culture' is a cliche, but I really do find myself smiling a lot here.
(Still using my rubbish $50 film scanner, got a flatbed on order from Amazon)

Not yet! But club registrations at the university are this week, and I'll be joining the photography society, who have a darkroom and seem to be mostly film based! Will be nice to get back into a darkroom after a year of faffing around with a changing bag.

Anyway, here are another couple of colour shots. I've been having my film developed at Palette Plaza photo stores, since they do 20 minute developing and if you ask you can get it done without prints or scans for a better price, and take them home to scan later! I'm getting my negs back for the same price I got them by mail in the UK. By the way, do not buy a Kenko KFS-500 Mini film scanner. It cost me ¥5000/$50/£35, but you pay for what you get, and in this case that's not much. I get the feeling I may end up making the effort and getting another Epson flatbed.

I've just moved to Japan and have been scannerless for a fortnight. Without space for a flatbed in either my tiny student bedroom or tiny student budget, I've now picked up the cheapest Kenko film scanner from my local Yodobashi Camera - it's a bit rough and the film doesn't sit very flat, but it does the job. Anyway, scanner issues aside, I'm snapping away like there's no tomorrow.

Both Super A, A50/1.7, Superia 400.

Really in love with the M100 as a walk around lens now. It seems an odd focal length at first but in practice it offers the perfect combination of subject isolation and reach - you can often be far enough away from your subject to take photos that you couldn't have got with a fast 50 without getting in the way. Not only that, it's lovely and crisp from f2.8 so it's perfectly usable in relatively low light. These were taken on the Super A, with Superia 200.

Cosina CX-1 (favourite compact in the whole wide world), Superia 400. This was a misty morning by a lake in the Peak District, before we went to take a three hour Japanese writing exam in the afternoon!

I recently got my hands on something I've wanted for a while - a Konica AA-35. Known in some markets as the Recorder, it's a very cute late-model AF motorised half-frame camera. It shoots horizontal half frame like the Yashica Samurai, and unlike the Olympus Pen et al, and unusually for a half-frame camera has a genuine wide-angle lens - a Hexanon 25mm f4, about 35mm equivalent. It's a fun and satisfying little camera to fire away with, the lens has a very colourful character and the AF is accurate. They're fairly rare and command high prices sometimes, but if you can find a good one for a good price as I did (and if you're a half-frame fetishist like I am) then I'd definitely recommend it.

Here are a couple of photos, on Kodak ColorPlus 200. 200ISO already represents a grain problem for half-frame but I'll try some sharper 50 or 100 next.
