Sigma already say that Pentax isnt profitable enough, they will remain in their Canikony market.

Lenovo/Motorola sensor module (Moto Z) were pretty much a failure with very little users, i doubt Ricoh would want to go in the same direction.
If something we dont expect is 4k vídeo, they may surprise us with capable video as the CEOs say that was something they were studyng

Hope is the last thing that dies, anyway, i hope for a 85mm f1.4 or a 135mm f2 as the lens i could purchase, by the 3/4 of the next year because i will try to purchase the 24-70 starting the next year. Or swith the purchase time if specs and price allow that

I wish for a unveil of 50, 85, 135 and 200 macro, just because, why not?
With a special glourious Golden K1 edition, because silver edition looks cheap....

The problem is: Pentax dont sell the FA*85 anymore, you must buy it second hand, with no warranty or service on a already expensive lens... And maybe a lot of possible buyers may dont pull the trigger until the new lens is out, because the price of the FA* will drop, or they may think they already have more than the half of the money for the new lens. That happen to me, a listed FA* was on sale for weeks in a fair price in the marketplace, i didnt pull the trigger, and was painfull to see it there at my hand reach and i did nothing.

I got the DFA28-105, DFA15-30, DFA*70-200, the 31ltd, the 43ltd, the 77ltd and the DFA100 macro, also the Pentax K1
The 24-70 is on my list for next year, and when i got the chance i buy the Zeiss ZK 85 instead of the FA*85.
The 150-450 isnt not something i need, a 300mm prime maybe, but i could settle for a 200mm macro [emoji28]
The problem with us, the relative new users is the legacy lenses are often hard to get, and when is available, is as expensive as the modern gear, so, we want the release of the new lenses as se cant get the third parties lensed either, i wouldnt be here nagging about the DFA*85 if i could just go to amazon, BH or Adorama and order the Sigma Art.

New M3/4 can compete in the small format lenses of the DA
Q system is basically dead, and M3/4 cameras are an option
Fujifilm bring a new competitor with the GFX, expensier than the 645, but mirrorles smaller and shinier lenses, other players as PhaseOne have their own niche and priced accordingly, maybe in the medium term 645+GFX make them change
Theta, is for now, the jewel crown, but the market is reacting, as Nikon, Kodak, GoPro and others are copying the format, i hope Ricoh can bring better and new hardware and software to maintain the top
And WTF Is that thing? Is to copy negatives or something?
Regardless of me sounding too negative, im a Pentax user, and i want Ricoh/Pentax to make it, but yeah, the lack of new info regarding new lenses, third parties software make dents in the faith of the brand... still waiting a 20mm, 85mm, 135mm and the 200 macro primes tough.

The time when you can do that, release a product out of nowhere and expect selling them is over, at least for Pentax, they dont have the users base to do that. They only can (at this time) Is what they are doing now, release info about products, create interest, bring those products and fullfill the hype. Pentax today, dont have any product that make it stand out of the competition, IBIS is now common with Sony and Olympus, Backward compatibility with mirrorles cameras is easier and interbrand... Pentax lack of "new" modern lenses, third party lenses and software, video, press coverage and retailers... plus their small user base are their big problems to resolve. I think, with time and comminment they will be a big player in some years, but until that date, they cant play the marketing like their were it now.
I agree about a more charismatic spokeman, the CEO while very honest... they seems very uncomfortable regarding the "do not say more than the agreed speech" thing.

Thats exactly the point, when Apple in the early years nobody knews about them and didnt produce a line of people camping weeks for a phone, Jobs máster marketer from my point of view, make the brand a very Niche brand with a good product and make Apple what Is today un terms of branding... Now, they dont need that much publicity as the world Is expecting the new gear they will release, of course they still publicity themself, but many of the hype come from the users.
Pentax was once leader (i wasnt even born, when i was a kid everyone was {and still it is} Canon or Nikon) but not today, Ricoh/Pentax is already aware of this, and they are working on it, a FF, some new pros lenses lemses 15 to 200 f2.8, and the expected 50/85. Its stupid trying to live from old glories, Pentax needs to start bring attention to their product and became a serious contender and bring new users and lens brand to us, their customers.

Yeah, but theres a problem with that... Apple is the leader of their niche market, everybody is pending about releases and eager to buy whatever they release, Pentax dont have that privilege, they are like AMD of the cameras, good products, good price, but not enough market and greater competition with more market and hype. They need to bring info to maintain their current users interested on the new gear, and bring attention of the press and potential new user.
Just before the release of the Sigma Arts 85, everyone knew they will going to update their 'old' 85, why Sigma needs to announce anything if the world was already expecting the lens, when they officially discontinued the 85, was a solid confirmation about was going to happen... Pentax right now, only their users are expecting those lenses, go to any other Canikony forum and ask about what they think about the potential of the Pentax 85mm, almost all dont even will know about Pentax releasing a lens, and before you say "i dont care what other forums/pages have to say about Pentax"... Ricoh wants users from those brands, and people willing to spend money on the Pentax brand, so they need the reflector on them

I never say, Pentax is doomed!.. and while is true that we have the 77, 31 and 55, (the 85 is discontinued) still many new user wants those lenses due the marketing, those photos in Flickr or Facebook made by pros praising all the specs of the lenses or cameras... I own a copy of the 77 and 31, even a Zeiss 85mm... im just saying, Ricoh needs to hurry or give more info about new lenses, nothing stops anyone yo just jump ship if somebody just want any of those lenses enough

I hope they wont make us wait, because anyone can just buy other camera brand and start buying those Art lenses or any other 1.4 or 1.2 .
Fuji already bring their medium format, and Ricoh will need to attend that market too
