Great camera. I had it for just a little while when Pentax released the PZ1, a game changer for Pentax cameras; which Made me immediately trade the SF1-n for the PZ1; which was not up to part with the professional cameras of the day from the mejor brands, but still a great camera where the autofocus was slower than the competition, but good enough for anything you wanted, but professional sports. I still have the PZ1.

In my opinion the PZ1/PZ1p were the last of Pentax great film cameras.

Update on the Pentax LX: I did send the camera to Eric Hendrickson for repairs. I consider the price of repairing the camera, including the damage I did to the prism housing after I disassembled it to try to repair (bad, bad of me) the viewfinder glass that fell inward after I try to clean it, very fair ( on the cheap side), since I expected to be charge more because of the prism assembly damage. $249 only.. awesome. It seems that Eric is a sought after repairs specialist since it will take some time to get the camera back due to others being ahead, but he came trough for me when I requested from him if I could have it by October 4. I would recommend him wholeheartedly.

@ grhazelton: Thanks for your input. The shutter is closed, the mirror is not raised. The cell (3V) was bad, but I changed it for two 1.5 v and the metering system is working fine. I tried the shutter dial on the auto position and on every other shutter speed including bulb, but not to avail. I will call Eric tomorrow.

Well, too good to be true, I just posted a help in the General Technical Troubleshooting. I received the Pentax LX camera today, and the shutter is stuck in the cocked position, consequently, the rapid lever will not advance. The little red dot indicating that the shutter is cocked is on. but when I press the shutter it does not do anything (it depresses but it does not trips the shutter). If anyone knows of something I can try to do to un-stuck it, I'll try it. Anyway tomorrow I will give a call to Eric Hendrickson; if this is something too expensive to repair, I would ask for a refund through e-bay. I already notified the seller of my intentions.

Oh my god, oh my god!!! I will be in trouble. Over the weekend I was just lurking around the E-Bay auctions and decided to fool around on a LX with winder and zoom lens thinking that since, normally, something like that goes into the $300-500's; there was no way for me to win; so I started to bid on it just a few minutes before the auction was to finish, thinking that someone was going to up-bid me like it always happens when I really want something. All of the sudden right before my eyes the auction ended, and I was the winner:(

For the total of $216.00. I had to pay-up for fooling around like a dumb kid. I hope it is in working conditions (that would be a steal). I always wanted one, anyway;). The thing is...Just a few hours before, I had bought what was suppose to be my "latest" the Chinon CE-4s I posted about (see my previous my latest post). Now when my wife sees a package containing a camera, and later, another package containing another camera...uh..oh!!

@ Kayaker-J: If you see my post about the CE-4s. you'll see that I keep buying them since the shutter release get stuck. Finally I took one apart, and then another, and another. After all these years, these cameras have no lubrication at all. any lubrication is dry. Nonetheless, i tried to fix one...what I end-up doing was loosing a spring inside the camera, and then same thing happened with another one. now I have two of them missing that particular spring. I will follow advice and get a professional to clean and lubricate them. I also have a Chinon CM-4s. So far it is working.
I always carry one of these cameras with me on a daily bases to capture anything that interest me on my way to/from work. They are so unobtrusive, with a bright big viewfinder that makes it so easy to quickly grab anything on the fly while manually focusing.

My latest purchase: Chinon CE-4s. Beautiful 35mm camera which uses the Pentax K-mount. It was my first camera purchase back in the early 80's. I have, like 6 of them. After a while the shutter mechanism start to stick because they need lubrication. I just do not know who would clean/lubricate them here in south Florida, so I just keep buying another used one. the picture is from the e-bay site. I have not received it yet.
