But it's probably bigger and heavier (and so are the equivalent Sigmas). I take one of the 55-300s as my holiday long zoom because it is relatively short and light - but don't then be tempted to add a teleconverter to it as my experience with a 1.4x one was not good.
BTW my much older and earlier Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 knocks spots off the image quality from the 55-300mm, even heavily cropped - but it's a relative monster that I would not dream of taking on holiday :lol:
