From Henri Cartier-Bresson - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"He acquired the Leica camera with 50 mm lens in Marseilles that would accompany him for many years. He described the Leica as an extension of his eye."

That's what I like about a normal lens, it makes the scene look like it did to the naked eye.

True, but street was invented with a 50mm lens on a 135 film camera, and some still prefer the standard focal length. It's just a question of style.

I don't need a prime between extra wide and normal. I don't like shooting people with a wide angle lens (big head, small body perspective distortion). I have normals at 28, 35 and 40mm. Most standard zooms are pretty strong at 21-24, especially stopped down for landscapes (I have the 16-45 & 18-135).

Pentax-A/M/K 50mm f/1.7
DA* 55mm f/1.4
DA 70mm f/2.4 Limited/FA 77mm f/1.8 Limited

Those lenses all have pretty much the same use; shallow DOF, portrait range (mild tele). I would choose one of them and leave the rest until your kit is all filled in.

My ideal kit looks like this:
DA 15mm
FA 31mm
DA*55mm
D FA 100mm WR macro
DA*300mm
DA 18-135mm

I only own half of the lenses in my ideal kit, but I have similar substitutes for the rest, along with some extras.
