Sigma has all but abandoned the Pentax system. In their current lineup they have only a couple of K-mount products.

Let me get this straight... A third party copies a product which then turns out to be incompatible with a later version of the product and it is somehow the first party's fault? The fact is that of all the K-mount lenses extant, only the reverse engineered, unlicensed Sigma has an issue and Ricoh/Pentax is to blame? Give me a break! Now if Sigma were paying a license fee and producing product to spec in accordance with that license there might be a valid argument but as it is Sigma just got burned and their response to the issue proves that they know it.

But the white balance is spot on.

I have and Opteka 500mm mirror lens and it fits with no issues at all. It has plenty of clearance.

If you read the release carefully it says that the Sigma lens can leave a small scratch on the camera body... not the mount. The clearance where the body overhangs the top part of the mount is pretty tight so perhaps that's the issue. The mount per se has not changed but the body dimensions have. I don't have any of the affected lenses so I'm not terribly worried about it but I will certainly be mindful when considering future purchases. As I understand it, Sigma does not use the standard K-mount but have rather reverse engineered a compatible mount. They probably missed something in the dimensions that didn't matter until now.
