But seriously - I've never used the video mode and don't even have plans to give it a try. I can fully understand that there are people which in contrary to me like to shoot video - but then again - why not to buy a real video camera which is fully designed for this purpose?

yes, there are users which are from kinda mysterious reasons keen on video from photo-camera instead of video-camera

It's like vicious circle IMO. But I wouldn't put the blame on the internet shops only. When I think about it - many of these online shops have huge stocks and lot of items available for immediate shipment. So what's the difference? Why couldn't the local shop have some items available as well and show them in the salesroom? Certainly there are still many people which prefer to see and touch the items before they make a decision. Then maybe have a little chat with the shop assistant and make few stops on the way home to test the new gear right away... But who would consider travelling 150 kms to the nearest reasonable camera shop just to find out that there's no assortment and yeah, they could order it for you (but then - why not to order it online right away?).
And if you're lucky you won't meet the same knowing shop assistant which tried to persuade me that I shouldn't buy the B+W UV filter because "it's for black & white photos only" :lol:

Every brand has its own shop-in-shop (some even multiple corners), only Pentax cameras and lenses are cramped in one small cabinet, even without any company logo.
Anytime I'm there and ask for something Pentax-related, the shop assistants glance at me like I'm kind of endangered species.

just grotesque experience from the biggest photo store in Prague... Once you enter the shop, you are caught by young Canon representatives, which try to give you advices and guidance. Next Canon guys are running around the store and try to talk to you no matter that it's quite obvious that you're standing in front of the Pentax display case. I think there were about 6 Canon "consultants" inside this shop.
That's how a really aggresive marketing looks like. Sad is that it really might work - if you're not (yet) so deep into photography and you search for kind of help, they capture you before you even have time to look round.
(to be equitable, there were also 2 guys from Nikon - but by no means half that "pushing"...)

I met a guy with Pentax camera few weeks ago during a Sunday walk along a nearby river.
He said - obviously with foreign accent - that he had bought both the Pentax camera and lens in a secondhand store in Prague.
Counting his, mine and my wife's camera, I guess it was topmost Pentax concentration in entire district. :)
