Glad you got some kind of resolution. Not entirely satisfactory, but sometimes you just have to move forward.
Maybe it was an isolated early build issue or maybe it was just plain old bad luck. Stuff happens.
We should be careful about generalizing in these situations given this is the only known weather sealing failure of a KP that we know about.
I would not hesitate to take mine out in inclement conditions. I believe the the build quality is as good as my K-5iis. But there is always calculated risk when we do this.

That's rough. I had a feeling this was going to be the outcome.
I will make this point. I wonder if the early build cameras had some kind of build quality issue (This is why I asked about your serial number). TCSTV did note panel gap issues with their review camera.
Might be worth pursuing that angle with Ricoh.

Interesting, so this was one of the very first few hundred production cameras produced.
Were you shooting in the snow, rain, going back and forth from cold to warm, could that be a factor? Did the camera get wet?

Thanks for the updates Nick. I'm sure many of us will be following this closely.
Would you mind posting your camera serial number? Might be a useful data point down the road if this turns out to be be more than a one-off event.
