Your welcome I had the same problem. Took a little hunting around to figure out what was going on.

Thanks Norm I just wish they had not built that house right behind it. I have pictures of it before the house was built but they are on Kodachrome.
With the K50 at 135mm.

I agree the 18-135 suits my needs just fine. Comparing it to the DA*16-50 at similar focal lengths I can only tell the difference with 100% crop. If I printed a 5X7 of each I don't think I could tell the difference side by side.

I have thought about that too Norm. I have also been a little concerned about how my 50-135 would handle on the K-S2 since it smaller than the K50. I use my 50-135 quite a bit.

Nice shots Matt. How do you like the K-S2? I have been considering getting one from Costco and selling my K50.

Thankyou, at first I didn't like this one at all. My shutter speed was too slow to stop him, only 1/100. It was not until I saw it on the monitor that I liked it. The only reason his head is in focus is because he was staring me down.

Thanks Rod, this is of the few photos I would actually print. I almost threw it out because originally it was not to good. I have trying to challenge my post processing skills more lately.

In the end it comes down to what you want to use it for and how much you want to spend. The 16-85 is much larger and more expensive than the 18-135. However there is a huge difference between 16mm and 18mm when it comes to landscapes. I discovered that with my 16-50. From everything I have read and heard the 16-85 is sharper than the 18-135 wide open. I have seen 18-135's on sale here in the marketplace for $250. You will not come close to that for a 16-85. I have a Sears 135 2.8 macro as well. I have had it for over 20 years. It is a great portrait lens and tends to give a softer effect. For portraits I use my 50-135, it is the best portrait lens I have.
With all that said I still would not part with my 18-135. It covers all my primary focal ranges, is weather resistant, has silent focus, is light enough to take anywhere, and delivers results I am happy with. I was able to purchase mine from a forum member so it did not break the bank either.

I do not think you will get the same IQ with the Sigma that you will get with the 18-135. Plus the 18-135 is WR too. Personally for what this lens does and the focal range it covers I do not think it gets much better. Mine is always mounted on a body.

No the building has been abandoned for years. Someone was talking about rehabilitating it but nothing had really been started yet. The building was over 100 years old and in really bad shape. It was actually the original factory that made Oliver Table saws and other woodworking tools.

I have not been to Mackinaw in years, I miss it. I use to pass through the straights on my way to college up in Houghton. I will be up in Petoskey next month I may have swing up by the bridge it is only about 30 miles away. Great shots, last time I was on the island I was still shooting film.

These are all excellent shots that really show what this under rated lens can do in capable hands. Great job, now that I can go hiking some more again mine wil be on the K3 quite often.

I agree, I do not think there is another lens that can equal the versatility and durability of this lens at the price. If I am on a hike and can only take one lens this is the one.
