After so many, many, many years of just looking I finally pulled the trigger on a F*300 F4.5. I have almost a few times. Each time I decided against for various reasons. I said if ever got one it had to have clean and clear glass. This copy has that. I even contacted the seller to confirm it. It had to have the tripod foot. This copy has that. It had to be in fairly decent shape, not mint just not completely beat up. This copy meets that. Lastly it had to be under $500 US Dollars. This was the one that usually kept me from buying one. Well this copy checked that box too. So I really had no reason not to buy it. I was taken back by the size. I had an A* 300 F4 many years ago on my Super Program. For some reason I just figured this lens was going to be much bigger. This is smaller than my DA* 60-250. The F*300 F4.5 is easily a handheld lens, which is something I have been wanting. My Sigma 300 F2.8 EX DG is not a lens I want to use without a tripod or monopod. Hopefully I will be able to go out this weekend and give it a test run.

My new to me Sigma 18-35 F1.8 Art. It arrived in excellent condition and every came with a case that I wa not expecting. I did have to order a lens hood of B&H but for half of the price new, I am not complaining. It focuses perfectly on my K-3 MKIII and MKII.

It is definitely not a small lens. I find I prefer to use the battery grip on my K3 with it.

This showed up today. Somehow it made to Michigan from Japan in 2 days. I have wanted one since I got my K-1. Finally found one for a good price in mint condition.

With the DFA*50 1.4 on the left and the HD FA 43 1.9 Limited on the left.

It is no DFA 15-30, but I will not need to do extra bicep curls to carry this one around all day.

This was from the LBA outbreak of last year. Never did post a picture of it in here. Yup it is a big, heavy lens.

Another new toy arrived today. Going to try something different for the butterfly exhibit coming up in March. I am not sure if will be powerful enough though. I will try and go there this weekend and try it out. This came as a kit with two flashes, step up rings, mounting ring, flash diffusers, stands for the flashes and a carrying case. Had to buy the remote trigger separate. It does work with the Pentax PTTL flash system.

LOL, MAP Camera in Japan. I have been buying from them for a long time now. Items always come as described, usually better. Shipping is quick and well packaged. They are a saved seller for me on Ebay. I bought my K3ii from them so I am sure when they got this they were like, hey look what we have... You know you want it.

I said I was not going to upgrade from my K3ii because I got it less than a year before the K3 Mark III launched. I said my K3ii was more than enough a camera for me. I said I am perfectly happy with my K3ii. I said do not need a K3 Mark III.
I said.........

Should have never read that email the seller I buy in Japan sent me. But when they offer you the whole kit for less than just the body goes for used how can you say no. Apparently I could not.

I had a bit of a period where my health was not too good. A lot things went on the back burner till that was taken care of. After losing around 100lbs(45kg) things are much better now. Dropped five prescription medications as well that it turned I never needed. Now I am back to running 4-5 miles (5km) a day and doing strength training again as well. Now in my fifties, I feel better than I did all through my forties. I am in good enough shape now to carry this around. Which was also a recent purchase this year.

Well it has been a very long time since I have posted anything in here. I will have to get caught up. I will start with a two for one. About two years ago my K3 finally took its last breath. I started looking for a replacement and ended with a K3ii from Japan. It was essentially new since the shutter count was 5 on it when I tested it. I have already taken a few test shots by then. After not buying a lens for nearly six years I decided to do some shopping. Adorama had this HD-FA 77 F1.8 Limited as an open box buy.

LOL, I wish. The K-1 was $1500 refurbished, not exactly the deal of the century. The Sigma 12-24 was $400, NOS. The grip was $125 open box. I would not have bought the Sigma if was not so hard to find and local. I admit it was actually nice walking into a real camera store again.

I realized have not posted anything in here in quite awhile so: I purchased a K-1 finally after waiting for over a year. Of course I needed a battery grip and B&H had one in an open box for a very good price. Right after this the grip on my K3 decided to stop working. Luckily Adorama had a used one for $50. Then while browsing Ebay I saw a Sigma 12-24 and the name of the seller seemed familiar. It ended up being the camera shop in my hometown. I gave them a call and sure enough they had it. So I took a drive with the K-1 and tried it out. The store owner was pretty impressed with the K-1 and gave me a good deal on the Sigma 12-24. We had not seen each other in many years so it was a lot of catching up. I really could not pass the Sigma up since they are so rare in K mount. Oh and a new carbon fiber Benro tripod from B&H on one of their daily deals, almost half off. This tripod is the same weight as my current one but twice as sturdy.

I picked up Tenba small messenger bag on B&H from a daily deal. I really like their as and they seem well made. I can carry two lenses, a flash, my K3 with up to my Tamron 70-200 f2.8, and other supplies easily. It is much slimmer than myou other camera bags on is easier to use in crowds.

Tenba Messenger: Small Photo/Laptop Bag (Burnt Orange) 638-224

My Benro Series 3 Mach 3 tripod legs showed up today. It was listed in the Price Watch section a few days ago. Time to see if carbon fiber really lives up to the hype. My other tripod is a Vanguard Alta Pro.

I didn't know there was version of Sonic Stage that works with Windows 7. That is what I am still using. I still have my Net MD MZ-N10 and it's docking station. Just noway to transfer files. Also the internal battery is dead.

I still have all my Minidisc units including my original minidisc recording deck for my receiver before you could record CD's on the computer. I still miss the Minidisc system. I liked it so much I had a Minidisc player in car for a few years. My last HD Minidisc player which also played MP3's had a built-in rechargeable battery that no longer works are can be replaced. My original unit still does work though.

I am really thinking of buying one of these. Are you happy with the overall construction? I will have to carry it to my locations in my backpack. Is it fairly easy to set up and put away? I really need something portable that I can take from location.

I am sure I could on forever about what I come across in the twenty plus years I have spent working on houses. Instead why don't we take a look at what the big brown truck left at my house yesterday. A new to me lens.
