Just a quick small jpg conversion of unedited RAW file.
This is pretty much the way it looks on my monitors when first brought into Adobe Camera RAW unedited.

Maybe a half hour or so?
Photoshop CS6 extended loaded with every possible plug in.
For the sake of comparison - ISO 250

This is a rescue file that's been rattling around on my HD for some time.
Very low light shot taken at a distance of about 40 feet with the bird deep in the brush.
It's a triumph of Photoshop over reality. As a matter of fact it was darker to the naked eye than it appears here.
This is about as far as I could push that tiny sensor and still retain a modicum of detail.
RAW full frame.

Just thought I would see how far I can push the Q-S1 sensor with a crop and some PP.

As you well know that small Q sensor can run out of steam fast.
So I selected some low light high ISO Q files to see what I could do with them in Photoshop.
All of the following are from ISO 6400-2000 range.
Looks to me that on the Q=S1, at least, you are pretty much at your absolute limit at about ISO 4000 or so and only then if you're lucky.
6400, 5000, 4000, 3200, 2500.......

Saw this male House Sparrow grabbing seed and flying into the Ash tree so figured he was feeding his family somewhere in there and sure enough.

Look at it this way - your Q at 200mm is giving you 21x magnification. At that magnification it's impossible to hand hold it steady enough, for photo purposes, to get consistent results.
Even a 20x pair of binos are pretty much useless just for visual purposes without a tripod.
It's been my experience that anything much beyond 7x magnification (50-60mm FL lens) on the Q (or, perhaps, any camera) handheld is an exercise in frustration.
I'm not talking about the random dumb luck keeper but consistent results..
BTW my 560mm is giving me about 60x magnification using the S1.

It's a 560mm scope not a conventional photo lens.
BTW I can't imagine hand holding a 200mm on a Q and also trying to compose and focus through that dim LCD - good luck.
My gear and another shot from the other day...

Tried the 1000mm achromatic doublet on the Q.
This is way too big and clumsy for terrestrial use but I thought I'd give it a try just for the hell of it.
Because of the CA it's really a triumph of PP over gear.
About a distance of 90 feet or so? Cropped a bit.

Thanks - appreciated. Should be be understood those weren't straight out of the camera. It takes a bit of PP to wring something out of that tiny sensor.
Those were all taken with the S1 - here's one taken with the original Q, with an even smaller sensor than the S1....

I think your concern could be justified.
My "all day" statement was a bit of hyperbole.I doubt if it was ever on continuously for more than 30-40 minutes at one time and then not often. But not because I was concerned about the battery or over heating but I just had to take a break from shooting for one reason or the other from time to time. On the other hand how long would the battery last that way maybe an hour and a half? I did pay attention to body temperature just by touch and it did remain cool to the touch so far as I could tell.
Is there a screen blanking mode where the LCD shuts down after a specified time but springs back to life instantly with a tap of the shutter button? - Not so far as I know. Anyone?
