Here's one with the FA-J 75-300. I've thought about replacing this with a DA 55-300, but I don't use it that much, and when I do it works well. At the short end it can be particularly nice:

Hi Yeatzee-
I've found that just about every fast lens I own is "hit or miss" with focusing wide open. Manual focus too, to some degree. There was a thread explaining how the viewfinder is only good for f/4 or something, but I can't find it. With that said, you could try a focus test. That;s a great picture of the dog!
