I used this lens in the Single In Challenge this month and I can tell you, as long as you don't expect it to be a low-light lens, you can get some amazing shots out of it..... here's my Flickr album of this lens:

thank you - I don't think the kit lenses (usually the DA L 18-55 and DA L 50-200) deserve the bad reputation they have.....
