yep - I pored over the reviews here and elsewhere, raided flickr for any and all shots taken with it, researched the seller down to the *nth degree, etc...
I just haven't seen that much of it in this thread, where the experience is...

I finally took the plunge and bought a long prime, just to see what I could do with it... it arrived today, so took it out and shot a bit:
it's hay season here - this tractor was a bit under a half mile away in the field..

both handheld shots and it was bright out, so had to bring the contrast back in post.... but I am very happy with this lense's abilities..
I have a tripod collar on the way for it, so will be looking forward to some lunar shots soon...

I purchased an SMC K 300mm f/4 lense, and while it isn't here yet, one of the common remarks is a lack of tripod collar...
any suggestions on one? I've read that a 65mm (or is it 72mm?) collar will work, but want to verify...

any suggestions/pros/cons on mirror or reflex lenses ?
I see that they have the reach and can be considerably cheaper than comparable prime/zooms....
