Pentax manufactured the last run of the 8 element lenses with the first run of the 7 element lenses which resulted in overlapping serial numbers. Though the have different numbers of elements and groups, they do have the same minimum focusing distance.
Edit: If you go back and look at my original post, you will see that I said I wasn't 100% sure it was or it wasn't Ver1 but based on what Deadkenny said, it is.

Unfortunately, the IR mark isn't 100% reliable when these lenses are in the overlap area of the Serial #'s (above 1,48x,xxx to 1,58x,xxx or possibly 1,83x,xxx). Plus, there are more than 1 variation on the face plate. For example, my Ver1 doesn't have the serial number following the focal length and aperture. Furthermore, I think tooooo much reliance on the IR mark has led to some mis-ID in Nigel's old m-fortytwo project data base. Its somewhat tricky to ID the rear element for people that have all models in their hand.
Regardless, this specimen will make a fine lens for someone.

I'm not sure that it is the Model 1 50mm, but I'm not 100% sure that it isn't either. Its in an area of overlap with the serial numbers.
