I have a 28mm SX. The only problem I have is that it is in the auto mode and has to have something to keep the pin pressed. However, given I have a couple of 28mm S.T. and 35 mm Taks, I'm eventually going to sell it. It is a nice 28mm though. So is that 135. I actually used this lens on my NC1000 body. The Mamiya m42 adapter actually has an internal band to push the pin.

There was a company that was selling special adapters that had an internal band that pushed the pins. It was for lenses like the Mamiya SX series that were auto only and don't have an M setting. The adapter was a modification of there standard adapter and was made to order. I'm not sure if they are still making those or not but they are ~ $60 , and since I only have one lens that would require, I never did order one and they were $48 at that time. :p

We will have to agree to disagree about the Tak 105mm because they are all interesting lenses. Are you using a hood?

Those weren't the ones I'm referring to. I know they exist. ;) Quote: 85/1.8 Version 2 (6/6) - Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 85/1.8 [220-280€]
- SMC Pentax 85/1.8
However, if you have a SMC 85/1.8 Takumar I want to see an image of it. Quote: 35/2.5 Version 2 (6/6) - Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 135/2.5 Version 2 [100-130€]
- SMC Pentax 135/2.5
Same thing for the SMC 135/2.5 Takumar.
Also, there is a early and late version of lens, one with 3.5 -22 (early) and one with 3.5 -16 (late). Quote: 28/3.5 Version 1 (7/6)
Super Takumar 28/3.5 Version 1 [45-65€] There is also an early version of the ST 35/3.5 that has 3.5-22 but your list doesn't differentiate. Quote: 35/3.5 (5/4) - Auto-Takumar 35/3.5 [45-70€]
- Super Takumar 35/3.5
- Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 35/3.5 [35-55€]
- SMC Pentax 35/3.5
There were 2 variations in this lens as well, although they are minor differences. Quote: 35/4 (5/4)
Takumar 35/4 [100-150€] These are just some things I saw from a quick look at your list. If you are trying to create a check list for models and variations in the Takumar line then your "Takumar - The eyes of the Spotmatic" should reflect this.
Edit: Apparently part of what you are doing is lumping in a few of the k series lenses from 1975 to ~ 1980.

There are a few lenses missing from your list and also 1 or 2 on your list that do not exist, except maybe in a prototype.:p

Maybe good to fair light they maybe equally difficult. The reason I say that is in low light situations, the f1.4 has better light gather capability. The advantage of the S-M-C and SMC lens (and very few special Super Taks) is that they operated with open aperture meterings on the Electro Spotmatic, ES, ES II and Spot F. Focusing wide open was used on these models for optimum finder brightness. That makes the depth of field preview a bid deal.

. . . except from that newer, closer location, the DOF is going to be even more shallow on the 85mm. There is a reason wide-angle lenses were popular with rangefinders.

The M 85/2 had the same optical layout but then they canceled it to when they shifted completely to the A series.
