Beautiful colors. I love to take my panos with longer lenses also. They give super detail.

The BNSF (Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway) has large storage facility for diesel locomotives in Galveston, Texas. The storage yard must have close to 150 locomotives. This past week I put on my safety vest on and wandered around the yard. This is a 7-image pano at one set of tracks, showing the engines lined up with somewhere between 10 and 15 on each track. |

I was doing some tests of my home-built automatic pano rig and took this pano with a 100mm lens. It is a 120º pano stitching together 30 frames. The pano is 70,500 pixels wide and only about 5,350 pixels high as I was not taking any multi-row panos that day. I know it looks absurd, but my purpose was only to test my pano rig with 30 images and a small (4º) camera move.
The second image is a crop of just over 5% of the pano's width – 3600 pixels – which shows the detail that a longer lens can yield when used for panoramic pictures.

I took this about 12 days ago. This is along the seawall in Galveston, Texas during the beach closure. In normal times there would be people everywhere. Seven images with the 35mm f 2.4 AL lens. The finished pano is 14062 x 4340. |
