I was in the yard doing work and as habit, I always have a camera with me. We have a red Bellied woodpecker (Melanerpes carolinus) that nests regularly and was working on this years hole. We also have a pair of European starlings ( Sturnus vulgaris) that have been looking for a nest site. I heard a ruckus in the tree and grabbed my camera as the Starling fought with the woodpecker. Unfortunately the image was terrible backlit by the morning sun, so its heavily processed and I am still trying to bring out its best. They literally fell out of the tree locked in fight.

Bald Eagles here in CT are not as rare as they used to be, they at least nest here in a few places but its still really hard to find them reliably, so when birding seeing one is a real treat.. Its usually one thats adot in the sky or so far out in the marsh its splotch. Saw a "Splotch" in a tree across marsh and decided to see if I could get to it by car... and unbelievably ..I did. Would love Eagles in Flight with fish, but for now...these will do.

Thanks.God knows how many half Birds in flight I have as well!!:) It wasn't too bad a miss really this time, I did get it in the water and taking off, but shooting from my trucks driver side, through the passenger window, I missed alot as flew out of the water and out of my field of view.. I really wanted a few in flight shots, but one was it. Very cool fox shots! More often than not we are too far from a critter! Too close? doesn't happen enough!

:):) Thank you! I was actually about 10 feet away... but to be honest, It was shot through a piece of old
plexiglass at a zoo. I had to digitally remove some scratches and glare in Darktable. I was planning a trip to the everglades of Fl then covid happened...so zoo was best I could do... this winter I will hopefully get that trip in.
The zoo has several American Alligators but the only way to view them is through Plexiglass.
