Maybe you are shooting to high? I would go for the A series Zoom or prime. Not the * per se. Recently i acquired the A 70-210 and 35-105 for a reasonable amount and i was blown away by the quality of these zooms. If you can live with manual focus and some zoom creep, these are just as good or even better as the current autofocus zooms costing 10x as much!
Have fun photographing and use the opportunity pentax provides you with the ability to use supreme old lenses on modern digital cameras!
