2x crop factor aids telephoto stuff which is my main interest....I'm wondering how or if,Panasonic will respond to the 150-600???

I'll follow the results of the OM Bigma closely and see if the shooters get better than the crop canons with their 200-800.

The more I think of it the more its beyond excessive.

Checking the Sony version price, the best I can find down under is the equivalent of U$ 1163.Thats a massive difference for the same optics.

ATM I can buy a A6700 twin lens kit for U$ equivalent 1594, So buying the Sony version you get 150-600 plus 12-50 plus 55-210 and the A6700 .ALL for U$2757

I should sell my OM1mk 3(plus all the other M43 stuff, like UncleVanya did.) and get the Sony gear

Yes, both these situations can be cheaper.....Fuji gives 900mm FF(fov)....At F8....Sony gives 900mm at F6.3

Also cheaper is Canon R7 with 200-800 giving 1280 at F9.

All depends what you own.,,,,The new lens is a lot cheaper than the 150-400 Olympus branded that has built in 1.25 TC.

Online in Australia, the best value is A6700 and Sigma 150-600 total cost equivalent of U$ 2300ish.

The optics look the same.... have a look at what appears in the DP review thread "A sneak peak at OM-1mk II and 150-600"...the lens is tweaked to suit OM though.

Edit, looking at Sigmas L mount on their website and the leaked specs about the OM(almost typed OLY)...the lenses are identical in optical formula and size and weight.however on the Sigma site they say can be used in light rain whereas the OM specs give a rating of IPX1 weather sealing...So perhaps the seals are better???

We will know officially tomorrow 6am London time or 5pm EastCoast Australia.

Rumour has it that the 150-600mm is going to be U$ 2699 which I think is quite high.

It's a different lens to the FF (Sony/L mounts) with added features, so maybe thats the reason for the additional cost.

Good discussion on DP.

Ok,sounds like you had a good look around.

Just imagine when Captain Cook sailed in!

I dont blame you for not going to the top of the bridge,I wouldn't either.I have been up the top of Centrepoint tower though. My daughter has done the bridge climb and no cameras allowed(not sure about phones).

Only a vague recollection.

"the opera house" is how we(orzzies) refer to the landmark but officially its The Sydney Opera House.

A few of the major sporting teams feature the bridge and/or the opera house on their uniforms.

Benelong Point is the actual location on the harbour foreshore,I hope you took a trip on the harbour? The run from Circular Quay to Manly on the ferry is very nice and immense photo opportunity.

Yes, it was a LONG construction and the COST blew out due to design alterations.I saw many stages of construction and went to drama theatre once and where they showed movies countless times.

Utzon was surname of European who designed it.Many Australians thought it a monstrosity but it grew on plenty and has been accepted.

While the Em1 is a good camera its OLD,the newer Olys and OM1 are miles ahead.

Also Mr Pepper, consider a better Fuji than you now own.The next gen is about to be launched so the Xtrans4 group will all depreciate and pop up some great prices. We will take a hit on the value of the H1 as lots will be traded, their cost could get down to real bargains for what you get.

The overviews are starting to appear, this one is by a "moving pictures" reviewer mainly.

Most of my M43 kit is Oly but complimented by a few Pana pieces.

All the top bodies these days start at 2000 U$,it will be interesting how the market reacts to these latest big 2.

That Panasonic lens is good when its working, from what Ive read on various forums, its an expensive nightmare if theres issues. It has to be sent back to the original factory and they tend to send a refurbished copy,at considerable cost back to the owner. No negative reports about the Oly but its a relatively new lens.

Well Fuji will offer double for close to the same price(stills) and much more on the video front.

Its the mirrorless to wait for, when all is revealed the consumer decides.

Its not!

I find selling camera gear worse than a death in the family! Much worse than divorce.

I realise I have to rationalise my stuff next year but have to wait for some of the new announcements.

M43 is staying for me, as is Pentax Q!
