Good question. They were covered to protect the wooden structural members from the elements. Supposedly, if they were not covered they would only have a lifespan of 10-15 years because of the effects
of rain and sun. In Ohio, at one time there were upwards of 4000 covered bridges. There are still about 140 still remaining.

Being a 14 year old and of the iPhone generation, she was a bit overwhelmed at first. But after showing her around the camera and let her take some shots, she seems to be getting the hang of it. She likes using it, although I'm not sure she likes it
enough to become a dslr shooter, but who knows. But, at least she is learning the fundamentals of photography.

I loaned my K5IIs to my granddaughter for this semester's photography class. I managed to grab it back for a day to get some shots in. Blah day, but it was fun shooting with the K5IIs again after two months of being without it.

Beautiful. When I first glanced at them, I figured the lens was a 300mm.
I love the 18-135, but these surprised me how good they are.
