The KP has an accelerator, tilt screen and electronic shutter, and smart dial controls, the K3II did not have those features. So I see the KP as an improvement over the K3II, that's why the KP was introduced and K3II was discontinued. If there is the notion of successor and predecessor, then what was the predecessor of the Pentax KP?

The K3II successor was the Pentax KP, due to Ricoh Imaging having introduced the full frame line (K1 line), and streamlined its camera product lines to 3 lines: 1 camera for medium format, 1 camera for full frame, 1 camera for apsc. The logic of that is moving up market due for better margins, and not enough resources to maintain multiple camera models within a format. People don't want to believe this, but Ricoh Imaging acts and business logic match very well. Pentax KP successor should be the aim of the discussion.
