Poll: What should the next Pentax Full Frame be?

The new Pentax full frame sensor would have graduated concentric pixel density from 16Mp density at the edges of the frame to 24Mp in the edges of the apsc frame to 50Mp density in the u4/3 center frame. That would allow normhead to leave his TC home and just crop the hell out of the center of the frame. So if your lens wasn't that sharp in the corners or out of focus areas you wouldn't notice so much even when pixel peeping and the subject in the center would be captured with crazy details.

Agreed. As soon as the sensor gets to the size of 24x36, the latest lens models are the biggest size and weight contributors. The DFA28-105 is a tiny lens, a bit too small to my taste, but all the other lenses are even larger in diameter than the K1 body itself. The DFA24-70, 15-30 , 70-200 all go beyond the plane of the bottom plate of the K1. I compared side by side my K1 + DFA24-70 to an A7III + 24-70 2.8 GM, they both occupied a similar volume. K1 could have its weight reduced (aka D750 carbon fiber plastic composite frame) and with f4 mounted lenses on it would make it a decent travel kit. I don't believe the smaller size of u4/3 is that much of an advantage when taking ergonomics into account.

The KP would be the holiday camera, I suppose.

It wouldn't be very difficult (it seems) for Ricoh to have made a K2 with reusing the K1 body and a 24Mp sensor @ 8 FPS (instead of a K1 II tweak), it would have found buyers.

Currently the need is still a couple of high quality primes glass (35 1.4, 85 1.4) for full frame and a landscape zoom (70-200 f4) for full frame.
In terms of cameras, there is a need for an aspc camera with best in class back illuminated sensor, 4K video capability, 10 FPS and very noticeably better AF.
As for a new full frame body, the current K1 with software changes would suffice, I do find the K1 software isn't as smooth as it could be, especially live view and electronic shutter feature aren't exploited to their full potential.
Ricoh could have done a monochrome version of the K1, it may have sold more then K1 II to existing K1 owners (monochrome K-1 would be a low light monster..).
