Sky divers avoid risks as well. Usually people avoid risks. I don't see many people on pedestrian crossings when the light is red.

For sure, diffraction at the bayer array kicks in, which then make the local image look more like a phone image with some ghosting. It seems that the pixel size is that maxes out image quality is around 5um +-1.5um. Some of the newer models of compact / action cameras and smarphone now use sensor with less pixels compared to previous models. I don't remember which phone model, but there was a model with 20Mpixels and the model of 2018 is back down to 12Mp and when I compared images, the 12Mp image was better than the 20Mp image.

If manufacturers would keep the pace of apsc upgrades of 5 years ago, we would now have apsc camera with 100Mpixels and 50 frames per second.
What happened, basically, new apsc models from fuji and sony as MILC, and re-spins of the same camera models by Canon, and the D500 by Nikon, with sensor resolution around 20 - 24Mp.

It doesn't work this way. The shop were I bought the K1, didn't source the KP, nor the K1 mark II, they said that the K1 mark doesn't offer enough improvements so that they can justify the price to customers. And they said that the KP doesn't offer enough size reduction compared to the Fuji and Sony X models, so when a customer is coming from DSLR looking to downsize his kit, they offer Sony and Fuji. The shops have limited shelf space, they craft their offering so that it best address customer concerns. When Ricoh will roll out the GRIII then maybe the shop will source it because the size advantage is more significant then most other camera they already offer. So in fact, releasing products without unique selling proposition is a waste of time and money, and the less differentiation a product has the more effort it require to convince dealer to sell it. It's in this forum that customers assume that the flux of new products is what trigger sales, well, doing this way not necessarily pays off.

The way I see it , is that a lot of Pentax customers have bought a Pentax K1 or K1 II, most of them shooting landscape+portraits won't see any reason to buy a crop camera , except if it was very small like the KP or GRIII. When Pentax did not offer a full frame camera, all K mount customers would eventually buy the next apsc flagship, but now the K mount customer base is split between full frame and apsc. And given that Pentax shooters are mostly landscape oriented, doesn't leave a lot of space for selling new apsc cameras, except if they are pocket-able compared to a K1. That's the way I understand the lineup and also I see that Ricoh thinking is in line with my understanding because they are going to release a GRIII first. If I was Ricoh, I'd just make a GRIII and then a Pentax full frame with 24Mp and 10 FPS so that I can bring an advantage to all K1 users who are frustrated by speed and buffer on the K1 series (something like Pentax K-2, 24Mpixels, 100 AF points, 10 FPS and 4K video => horizon 2019-2020).

The problem for Ricoh is that Pentax market share is small, and Pentax leapfrogged all Canon full frame generations with the K1. I have a good friend using Canon, he was at his third upgrade from the 5D to 5DII to 5DIII to get a couple more mega pixels, when I purchased the K1 to jump from 24Mp apsc to 36Mp for the same money he spent on Canon gear. Once I have the K1, I don't feel the need to downgrade to 24Mpixels FF... and I don't feel that spending again 5 grands for 45Mp would make a difference in my images. Now, about the Nikon Z 24-70 f4: I have the 28-105 f5.6 very small from Pentax and the 24-70 f2.8, why should I get a Nikon Z6 and 24-70 f4 from Nikon? So yes, Pentax is doomed, but if they would release more of the same products they'd be even more doomed. Currently, I'm only looking forward to a couple of primes: 35 f1.4 or f1.8 and 85 f1.4/f1.8 or faster, and that's all for a number of years until my K1 breaks, and I guess I am not the only customer is that same situation. And with regards to a K3 II successor , I am not even sure that this is a good plan for Ricoh to make one, because the core of Pentaxians aren't shooting sports, so I doubt a Pentax D500 style would sell a lot, even if a few users would like to have one.

The Pentax K1 is too cheap, just look at the prices of similar cameras from other brands. Even the D810 older than the K1, sells for more than the K1. Pentax K-1 and K-1 II should be priced $2750, but now it is possible to find Pentax K-1 new for $1500, that's even cheaper than the price of an Fuji apsc flagship camera. Pentaxians just bought the K1 taking the 30% off for granted, and are grateful by using their old lenses on the K1, that's what ruins Pentax. How do you want Pentax to invest in R&D when they have 5% market share and sell flagship products at prices 30% lower than market leaders? Pentax customer base is about the same as the customer base of Harley Davidson, men in their 50s+ having a decent purchasing power and wanting to enjoy life and photography again after all these years of hard work and raising kids.

I have gone through the same path as you. Found out that enabling SR reduces the effect of shutter shock significantly, so now I don't worry about that anymore.
