To me it looks like the prototype of the Pentax 1DxII being tested by photographers to check if the buffer can keep up with the sake. :D Ricoh had no money, so they decided to pull out the old K1 design files from the archive and stick a new sensor into it, as it seems that the K1 image processor able to handle 4.4 FPS at 36Mp files should be able to handle 16 FPS at 16Mp files. At 16 FPS, the 31 Ltd diaphragm is barely able to follow. And I don't want to fire-up another new rumor.

Really? On the larger sensor, for same integration time, there is less noise => more precision, or alternatively so the same precision less time is needed, hence faster detection of phase difference on the larger AF sensor.

Are you sure of that? Let's ask ourselves some question about the timings of sections of the servo signal chain.

- How much is the integration time from the phase detect sensing (analog) behind the collimator? [unit = ms]
- How much is the conversion time of the analog signal to digital? [unit = us or ms]
- How long does processing time from CPU takes before it can send actuation command to the lens motor driver? [unit = us, (a few hundred operation @ 200MIPS)]
- What is the slowest of those time values in the complete loop?

Since my job is EE (member of IEEE), I usually don't rely on marketing flyer for engineering works, because the content of marketing flyers is usually stripped from detailed content so that it's understandable by broad audience.

Well, that's a good point. I discussed speed of operation of PDAF sensors with designers, and it appear that the current Pentax bodies are too compact to fit a larger PDAF module that would be need for faster AF operation (keeping equal sensitivity). So, I wouldn't be surprised if a new Pentax model featured a vastly superior AF performance, the camera body would be deeper, at least as deep as a D500/D850.

No leak? Not crispy rumor? Sad. My K1 opened one eye and fell asleep again.

Would make business sense, especially for Ricoh cameras.
