A small RGB sensor of the kind used in mobile phones or cheap compact camera could be used in a DSLR as a light meter and fort helping with AF, while still keeping an optical VF.

The internal memory of the GR is a genius idea, all cameras should have that.

I guess never generations of camera will generally work faster, that's the trend we have seen with camera models of the past.

The thing is, I do have photographic projects in my pipeline, and it's not about camera marketing and which camera weight 80gr less and what not. Actual results trump vaporware, so you can write absolutely anything this doesn't touch me (basically, as long as actually results confirm my thinking, I can't care less about virtual things).

Sorry but you don't understand photography. Camera centrist thinking = FAIL. You need to consider the whole imaging chain from the photographer ability to see the light, framing, camera setting, lens field of view, processing of the raw image, up to the image display on media paper, canvas, framing of the prints/canvas (mat board etc), display background, lighting of the dislay, projection, etc else. You only look at the camera body, that can be more wrong. A Pentax camera is perfectly fine when you do the whole imaging chain because you then realized that the differences between brands for the same format are irrelevant.

K1: 110mm x 136.5mm x 85.5mm = 1283782.5 mm3
D810: 123mm x 146mm x 81.5mm =1463577 mm3

The D810 is 14% larger than the K1. A good camera should be as small as possible without sacrificing the comfort of the user and it should be not too light weight in order to allow shooting at relatively low shutter speed without inducing image blur. The A7 isn't included in the comparison because it's not a DSLR and it's not comfortable to hold, not ergonomic, other than that Sony could have only fitted a mother board and a lens mount into a plastic case and the camera would be even smaller but even more difficult to use than the current A7 are.

I get triggered by "trol" type statements. I don't find the K1 body to be big / heavy at all, it all changes with I attach an f2.8 lens and / or a battery grip. The K1 body itself isn't big, it's rather narrow for a full frame camera, basically smaller than any other FF DSLR, some FF MILC have the same size and weight as the K1.

Very often, it's the available accessories that make people buy the camera even if they never buy the accessories, it's like for lenses, many people complain about lack of lenses but do not buy any when they are released.

It's a camera with infinite mega pixels, depth of field programmable with a dial (without changing the lens aperture), unlimited dynamic range, unlimited burst rate, perfect autofocus, not too big for people with small hands, not too small for people with large hands, and very cheap.

Adding a periscope on top would be nice.

In the past I suggested that Ricoh could make a camera with dual VF: one OVF in the center, and one EVF in the corner, so that the user can use both eyes, some kind of stereo VF. The user wouldn't even have the change the view finder, he would be able to switch between the two different view finder tech with the blink of an eye.

Do cameras have compromises? Maybe yes.
Do cameras exceed display media capabilities: absolutely (...)
Do people take display media into account? Nope. Still looking for a better camera even though it already exceed what the media can display.

If the AE sensor was replaced by a kind of compact camera image sensor, a DSLR might be able to include some mirrorless features (face AF, maybe eye AF, and one or two indicators at the bottom of the OVF to indicate high light clipping / histogram info). Even with the current 86K RGB sensor it should be possible to add histogram indicators in the OVF (for the folks who want an EVF to see if their high light are clipped or not).
