That's true if you take a detail like a fly in a dark tunnel :D. But let's imagine that the details are like a mosaic of details that forms the feather on a bird; if the bird (in flight) moves, every details of feather move together (unless he loses his feather during the flight), then the blur will cover a certain distance (millimeter of the frame), it's just that the edge of the blur will be more refined with the higher resolution sensor.

Anyway, I digress. I had the experience with the Pentax K3, and it was already tricky to get full sharpness, I usually had to increase shutter speed by 1.5x compared to what I was used to with the K5. So it's like what you describe. I guess shooting HH with a 90D would have to increase shutter speed again by a 3rd of a stop, and so crank up the ISO or use a faster lens that holds its details at wider apertures.

There is no cancellation, it is wrongly assumed that motion blur reduces image resolution, it's just that with more pixels you get a more detailed sampling of the motion blur, lens fringes and airy disc and more noise, for example in case you intentionally use a slow shutter speed to give a sensor of motion in your images, you'll get more detailed motion blur if the sensor contains more pixels. But the big advantage of mega pixels is, it's easier to sell to the mass market, more mega pixels always sounds good on paper anyway. If Canon was releasing one more 24Mp camera, it would appear more boring than when they show an increase, at least this is something to talk about.

Video in camera isn't old, and still something evolving, that trigger more camera upgrades. That's why, I suppose, DP review put a lot of emphasis on video capabilities in their evaluations.
And I guess amazon sells enough volumes, for camera makers to listen to amazon feedback.

That's what happens when zooming in at 100%, but that's not how photographs are looked at when printed.

The whole topic about lenses resolving more than sensors or vice versa, comes into contradiction with pixel peeping. When zooming at 100%, the lower resolution sensor will give a sharper look than a higher resolution sensor (and / pixel shift), but the higher resolution sensor gets images closer to film, although there is still this bayer interpolation thing with digital that is not there with film. Higher res. digital sensors require more processing power from the camera (or the camera is slower to process images), so it costs more. More MP also require more storage space for the images. Thus, wanting more or less pixels is rather a cost / benefit / print size / cropping capability thing.

A lot of camera customers still believe in genuine information leak like kids believe in Santa Claus. In fact, as I was going to my camera shop during closed hours, I bumped into the Fuji rep who was going to present a prototype of the XT3 to the shop owner, and this was 3 months before the release. The shop owner knew the specifications, how the camera looked like and how much would be the price range, under NDA, months ahead of the internet leak. I asked the show owner information , and his response was a big smile, I obviously got zero info, beside that he confirmed that some representative of an unknown brand presented him a new product.

Some people won't buy anything new, they use decade old equipment and are looking after getting good deals out of used equipment sold by people switching over to another brand.
The more FUD they do online, they increase their odds of having someone selling all of their Pentax gear.

This is rumored information, not even released and available for sale, and obviously it shouldn't come as a surprise that new models have something more than 3 years old models, otherwise what would be the point of making new products. At any point in time, there is always a new product that does something better then other products, but if you already want to have the latest feature you would switch from camera brand to camera brand.

That's something that ultimately destroys the value of this kind of forum. Honestly, I waste my time when reply to such comments.

With long lenses (DA*300 and D-FA150-450), I've done an experiment on the reliability of focus lock. Same subject lens on tripod, I did de-focus and lens manually and let the camera focus and lock, repeat 100 times, I got 100% AF success. Then I repeated the same process hand holding the camera and lens, same small target, center point, same light, repeated 100 times. Results around 80% AF lock success. The reason was that when focusing on a small area, camera shake move the area around relative to AF point, so it fools the AF into focusing on the background if you miss the subject area during the short lapse of time when the camera AF does its job. Lots of folks will report that the camera focused out of the subject they were aiming at because they didn't realize they move the camera/lens during the camera AF operation. When you have a stabilized lens and fast AF motor, the lens will keep the subject centered and that will help the AF to reach its target. So, while IBIS is an advantage for stabilizing all kind of lenses including small primes and manual lenses, the downside of having IBIS on a DSLR is that it's not that good for the auto-focus with long lenses hand held (when using long lens hand held on Pentax, it is better to use the AFS - SEL S setting with focus priority).

Lack of effort on understanding and technique is replaced by spending money to have the gear automation do the job for you.

Not everyone is confident enough in their choice to feel the way you feel. Some people feel bad when comparing to others if they don't have the same camera, car, bikes etc. That's a matter of social status.

Cameras have improved over time, but the number of unhappy people is still the same. Would that mean that photographic subjects have become more difficult to shoot over time due to climate change (for landscapes) and evolutionary human genetics (for models)? Ten years ago, models would pose when being photographed, but in 2019, when a model is being photographed they move as much as they can to demonstrate how good Sony eye AF tracking is . In 2019, models are moving, they can't stand still when they see a photographer. What you could shoot ten years ago , now in 2019 you can't shoot it anymore, you need the new camera models or you'll fail :)

With touch screens, camera settings are accidentally changed when looking through the viewfinder during the lapse of time between eye detection and nose touching the screen, but you can always go in the menus to disable the touch screen, then it's like you have no touch screen. If you enable the touch screen for the live view mode, and don't forget to disable it after you've finished to use LV, then touch screen is a viable feature.

I think it's not about taking pictures, it's about feeling bad when looking over what users of other brands have, some kind of gear lust and starving ego. Look at those Nikon customers have, if you are a Pentaxian sitting next to them on a bench you feel like an underdog. You want to have the biggest gear to show off, roll shoulders and feel like you are THE man.

It's not arrogance, it's because they don't do something if they don't see enough sales potential (relative to other projects of Ricoh). So if you are a customer having wishes that are different from the mass of Pentax customers, you get frustrated. On your side of the personality, however, you want the world change for you and it never came to your mind that you could adapt to changing situations. Usually, we may struggle trying to move a mountain until we realize that it is much easier to go around it. So if the current Pentax gear can't take the photos you want to take, don't bang your head on the wall, go buy a Nikon Z7 if that's the camera that can take the pictures that you can't take with a Pentax camera.

The camera goes to standby after AE metering time, the default is 10 sec. and the default Auto Power Off is 3 minutes. Lower power mode is with AE metering time set to 3 sec. and Auto Power Off set to 1 min.

I had a look at photo magazine "The outdoor photographer" (US) and "Outdoor photography" (UK) and all of a sudden realized that it's not about the camera, it's about being there at the right time, and any camera will record the scene. IMO, putting priority 1 on camera gear is like taking the wrong route to get good images.

Ok, get a Canon or Nikon or Sony then, select a brand that release cameras and lenses often so you won't have to wait. Don't buy medium format because the life cycles of medium format cameras are longer, so you'll be bored by the lack of new gear. Get yourself an apsc camera, so you can get a new one every year, and so have the pleasure to buy, unbox and discover the menus and new software features.

Don't forget that Nikon has the PF glass that Canon don't have. It is risky to put all eggs in the same basket, in case another brand offers some feature that Canon don't have, you'll be missing out the best available gear of the moment. To reduce the risk of missing out, I'd keep Sony and also invest in Nikon and Panasonic, so I'd be sure to have the best gear.

No one said otherwise, it's some customers making up their own dreams thinking that because there is an anniversary, Ricoh are going to pull out lots of new products, it simply doesn't work this way. Ricoh are going to release new products based on resources assigned to development and when the products are ready, independent from the anniversary thing.

We shouldn't take angst too seriously. Even with Pentax , a small brand, there are still four product lines (GRIII, Kp, K1 II, and 645z), it would be a pity if photographers can take photos with one of those currently available models. And then there are the new features that the competition offers, which aren't essential to taking photos. I can hardly find a feature that is lacking on the Pentaxes that can't be worked around to achieve desired results.

BTW, don't be mistaken. The article on dpreview show some Sony sensor to polish further the image of Sony camera, and trigger new sales, that's pure marketing, not even sure Sony was involved for this article. Any idea good for selling more camera is being used. I've really how much almost all online content is directly or indirectly aimed at selling something.

I see more R&D spending and promotional efforts in 2018/2019 than I've ever seen in the last 20 years. So either the reality of the camera market isn't what's being said, or shareholder will have to take their losses.

That's right, the price of camera modules in a car has to be far less than the price of a photography camera, simply because cameras aren't the only electronics in a car. Even if the amount of electronics in cars is increasing, the total cost of electronic content in a car is something like $500 to $1000, so if 4 or 6 cameras are added on top they have to be rather cheap, maybe $50 each, I'd say.
