So I pretty much resigned myself to the fact that it was too difficult to obtain an SMC version aside from the ebay sellers from japan. I saw there was a used HD 15 at B&H for $420, so I bit the bullet and bought the lens. Today the lens arrived and to my great surprise and joy, it's actually an SMC version! Can't wait to try it out!

I'm Considering this lens for wildlife and flower close ups. How is the chromatic aberration and fringing? Also, I'd like to start trying out nightscapes with the Milky Way. Will this lens work for such? Lastly, is there any difference between the HD and smc version when it comes to coma?
