Thanks. It's probably due to Sigma's reverse engineering that the lens is actually recognised as Pentax's FA 28mm f2.8, and it's at f1.7 because that's how the camera reads the fully open aperture of the lens even though it's an f1.8 lens. It's a common thing with this lens, actually.
